MANIFEST.
Gombo was selected for the European project MANIFEST, joining a residency of 15 artists in a mission to reinterpret the transatlantic slave trade's legacy. His project, 'The Private Portrait,' is a compelling VR experience. Through a headset, viewers enter a 3D space, encountering Afro-European historical portraits.
These portraits come to life, sharing personal narratives from the era of slavery, blending animation and documentary to offer a unique, immersive perspective on a crucial historical period.
